Warhol inspired hand prints

Who doesn't like to stick their hand in silky cool paint? We also worked in a little color theory too! To add another step you can cut out (or have older students cut their own) hand print and mat on a new color. For these little ones this was enough!

Sunday

Graduation Self Portraits

I took photographs of the students and used a computer drawing program to convert them to high contrast image. The portrait image was transferred (photo copied) to a clear overhead transparency. The students created a collage on white base paper under the overhead picture. To complete the project the artists added a personal phrase about themselves and mounted the portraits on a 12x18 sheet of heavy construction paper. The student portraits were placed around the multi purpose room for the 6th grade promotion ceremony and given to the families at the end of the program.

Make some Money

This fun project introduced 3rd grades students to art/skill of print making. Using small  pre-cut foam board and wooden stylists they created their own money. A simplified self portrait provided the center piece for this art project.

Connects to 3rd grade standards (money) and supports Art History (Andy Warhol).

Sunday

Mona Lisa Pop

This lesson combines an introduction to the Renaissance and the artist Leonardo daVinci as well as the Pop art approach to creating by Andy Warhol. Using a simple coloring book outline of the Mona Lisa, with a clear overhead and Sharpie markers student trace the lines and attach their work (with tape at the top so the overhead can be lifted up) to white card stock.

Last color paper in a collage style, no scissors, torn paper only they are to add color and their design approach to this classic art icon.
