Pre Kinder and DHH Kinder creations 2017-18

What did we do this year in Art?
Habitat to Home was our art room theme for 2017-18
We explored a variety of artistic processes, asked questions presented connections and made discoveries- during the journey created some great art too!
Pre K  Special Day Class & Pre K Kinder DHH program overview
Objective for students: first experiences to a variety of mediums and techniques for creating art. Hands on development of fine motor skills and begin to follow a basic direction.

Kinder Kats- Exploring materials and creating, using precut cat shapes, crayons and color pencils Fine motor skills, hands on experience


Mini clay pumpkins- first clay experience creating a sphere shape. Part II adding color and paper hand shaped leaves with student’s names supports Pumpkin Unit/Seeds/plant cycle

 My Winter hat- Showing emotions in art, parts and placement of features on the human face using precut shapes to create their own Happy, Sad, Angry… expression.
City at Night-  Color blending to create a starry night sky. Using pre-cut shapes artists build a city skyline. Sky/Ground, City/Country


Shape house- Pre-cut forms to build a house following a series of directions. Shape identification and skill building.


Expressive Color painting-  Using 6 rainbow color tempera paints to cover the paper in an expressive and exploratory project. Color theory
Magic Snails- following a series of directions artist blend 2 colors of clay (model magic) to create a coil form and build a snail shape. 

Art History connection:  Warhol, pop art, Bearden, Glad Monster Sad Monster and Very Hungry Caterpillar book, Van Gogh Starry Night,

Welcome to our New Year 2016-17 Full STEAM ahead!

This year we are going to expand our hands on learning and really move in a process over product direction. And what better way to start the New Year than with a series of painted paper workshops.

Name Game

Kinders worked with writing their name big little top bottom and sideways with rainbow crayons. Part II watercolor over name art exploring blending and watercolor techniques.

Name Rainbow Game-Line direction, following series of stop and go directions, how to use a paint brush, watercolor blending, skill building.
