2nd 3rd Explore and Design 2018-19

Objective for students: to experience a variety of mediums and techniques used for creating art. Introduce art history text and continue exposure to the elements of art and vocabulary. Using art tools, developing fine motor skills and following a series of directions

Fall Pumpkins  –Students learned to draw a pumpkin in sections/direct drawing. Then after practicing they draw with white glue on black paper. Part 2 color in with chalk pastels Skill building Observation/Imagination, Seasonal and Plants

Bears in Ugly Sweaters-  students learned how to build a bear from a series of patterns and templates. This collage, skill building project had a lot of room for imagination.   FairyTales and Seasonal connections as well as   Observation/Imagination























Chinese New Year dragon- cross culture, designing with shapes and exploring metallic color pencils






 Little Red Riding Hood-Russian Matryoshka nesting/concentric circles, dolls are created using printed resources working with design, storytelling, details and composition. Sharpie/Watercolor and Watercolor pencils. Marc Chagall was our art history inspiration.

Mushroom and Log- this sculptural project allowed the students to work with a variety of materials, model magic, cardboard, bark, moss and others to create a magic bit of the woodland floor, these are to be displayed with the Matryoshka dolls.
