First Grade Art Adventures 2018-19


Objective for students: to experience a variety of mediums and techniques used for creating art. Introduce art history text and continue exposure to the elements of art. Using art tools, developing fine motor skills and following a series of directions.

Spider and Web-review line direction, direct drawing create a web with crayon, paint over with watercolor and observe the reaction of wax to water, add salt to wet paint to create another effect. Glitter glue was used to add reflective elements

Line direction- Inspired by Mondrian this project expands vocabulary and understanding of line, movement. Throughout the year the students can add color and detail to the drawing


Rainbow Zebras- Zebras facts and fun, this painting, coloring and collage project challenged students to follow a series of directions, trace a pattern, composition and design. Background, Foreground,  Science Art connection Observation/Imagination















Cookie People around the world-using a pattern to cut out a shape. Human form. Looking a traditional dress and costumes around the world. Using assorted papers to create unique clothing. Drawing details with crayon and or pencil. Facial expression and emotion. Cultural connection
