2nd Grade Creating 2018-19


Objective for students: to experience a variety of mediums and techniques used for creating art. Introduce art history text and continue exposure to the elements of art and vocabulary. Using art tools, developing fine motor skills and following a series of directions

Fairytale Villains-color values, complimentary colors, symmetrical, asymmetrical, following a series of direction involving cutting and drawing. Storytelling and emotion through art.

The Great Sea Turtle Project- Warm cool, creating a habitat and a sea turtle, Aboriginal Inspired, painting, collage, stamping, cutting and designing. Building a multilayered composition with movement.
Science Art connection Observation/Imagination


Chinese New Year dragon- cross culture, designing with shapes and exploring metallic color pencils


Jellies- Observation/Imagination, students draw a jellyfish shape with crayon, apply watercolor wash and sea salt. Project is completed with glow in the dark glue to add the bioluminescent quality to the art.




Clay Sea Turtles- students constructed their own clay sea turtle using basic building skills and information gained from previous sea turtle project. Part 2, build a base/ocean floor to support your sea turtle, using a straw and pool noodle
